Our Heritage:

Heritage Computer Consulting & Services, Inc. is a locally owned and operated company that has been providing technical services to businesses both large and small in the greater Kansas City area and around the USA since 1991.

We have been a Microsoft® Certified partner since 1998.  Our staff consists of a team of experienced Microsoft® Certified technicians and developers that provide business solutions not technology.  Their experience in programming, database design, computer networking, training and troubleshooting as well as web site development and hosting is the reason HCCS, Inc. is…your trusted computer professionals since 1991.  The company is a member of the Independent Computer Consultants Association and subscribes to its Code of Ethics.

The Heritage Difference

We are a woman-owned family business with an ‘Old-World’ commitment  to quality.  We are not in the business of simply selling services but are dedicated to forming business-to-business relationships that allow us to provide knowledge and skills to our clients with the goal of promoting a smoother and more efficient use of ‘New-World’ technology.  By truly understanding your business’ needs and practices, we can ensure that our technical services are tailored to boost your productivity while minimizing costs.  We deliver satisfaction and our clients stay with us!

Whether you are considering changes to your current computer setup, need a custom application or need a second opinion, would like to know more about using Microsoft products, or are interested in further information and pricing on any of the services or products we provide, please do not hesitate to call.  I will be happy to assist you.  Heritage is a home grown company.  Jim & Arlene Watkins began this venture as a home-based business in 1991.  Our family owned business grew from the desire to be available for our children and our passion for technology.

Principles

Arlene Watkins
spent over twelve years in a medical laboratory office.  There she operated a mainframe computer and supervised the billing for the laboratory and contracted billing services.  Several years after moving to the Kansas City area, Arlene was Production Manager for a local computer software company where she was in charge of producing software updates and tracking client software installations.

As President of Heritage, Arlene’s main focus has been business management and customer service.  She also writes training documentation and Help Systems for custom applications written by the company.  When needed she creates forms and reports in Microsoft Access and tests software applications.

She represents the company at many chamber and networking events.  She is a member of the Kansas Women’s Business Center and eWomen Network.  Since 1999, she has served as Education Chair of the Independent Computer Consultants Association.  She also served as secretary of the ICCA – Kansas City Chapter Board (2002-2003).  In 2003, she was an Athena Powerlink awardee.

Jim Watkins
has been interested in computer programming since high school.  He served as assistant office manager of a parts company in Omaha where he was exposed to the business “rules” behind software. He often made suggestions for enhancements to the inventory software vendor.  He started his career as a computer programmer in 1978 with a Kansas City based software company.  He spent over twelve years in software development, client training and support before starting Heritage.

As Vice President of Heritage, Jim spends the majority of his time developing applications for clients.  He is the chief mentor for our programming staff.  Jim has been active in ICCA since the company joined the organization in 1991.  He has served as President of the ICCA – Kansas City Chapter (1995-1996); served as a Director on the National Board (1997-2000 and 2005 - 2006); served as Vice-President (2003) and as President (2004).  At the 23rd Annual National Conference in Boston, MA, he was presented with the very prestigious Honor Council Award.

Jim has earned certifications as a Certified Data Processor and Certified Computer Professional from the Institute for the Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP).  He also holds two Microsoft Certified Professional certificates.  He serves as an Adjunct Professor at a local college.

Jim loves teaching clients to be self-sufficient and comfortable with their software.
